I was hesitant at first because it sounded like a gruesome sort of book, children slaughtering each other. I found, however, it is so much more than that! Not only do you have the suspense of what's to happen next, but you have the whole political aspect, and personal relationship/trust issues. I also loved the fact that I could not, I repeat, COULD NOT predict what was going to happen next. Everything I thought would happen, never occurred, which pleased me greatly!
As I was nearing the end of the final book Mocking Jay I actually slammed the book shut. My poor husband who was sitting beside me didn't know quite what to do as I muttered just one word, over and over in desperation, "No, no, no!" "What is it?" He replied. "Nothing good is going to come out of this." I said, and my eyes began to well. "Nothing good can come out of this, nothing! I can't go on, I can't read anymore." I spluttered out and then literally began to ball. The first thing my husband said was, "are you pregnant?" Then he laughed and said, "yes, but it is a good book?" "Yes!" I shouted, prized open the book again and continued on to the end.
Now for those of you have read the book, my outcries were probably not at the part you are suspecting. My little breakdown occurred after I read page 370...
Anyway, after my response I guess my husband was intrigued and has also jumped on The Hunger Games bandwagon! It's neat to see him reading because he, unlike me, is not a fiction fiend. He reads informational, instructive, non fiction stuff that has never peaked my interests! He has just finished the first book and is eager to start Catching Fire. I think things would go a little faster for him if I'd stop constantly asking him "what part are you on now?" while he's reading...I can't help it!
Well, that's all for now. I'll try to post more often...it was supposed to be my New Years resolution...that went well!
